Structural Engineering Plans & Calculations
Structural Engineering Plans & Calculations
Finding the right structural engineer to join your design team is key to the success of any construction project. Whether the project is a new residential home, addition/remodel, or custom building, a complete set of structural plan drawings and material specifications is vital for permitting and construction. But we know that you are looking for more than just a stamp on a set of drawings. At ESG Design, our team of professionals is reliable, personable, efficient, and dedicated, and we are ready to collaborate with you. Along with utilizing the latest engineering design and plan drafting software, we also have a wide network of other design professionals and skilled tradesmen that we can refer to our clients. ESG Design focuses on producing results and building relationships, and we have the tools, experience, and vision to help make your next design project successful.
Lateral Force Design
Lateral Force Design
Some architects prefer to draft their own framing plans and run beam sizing calculations, but they want a structural engineer to determine building seismic and wind force loads and design the lateral shear wall components. ESG Design will adjust our scope of work based on your needs. We have the tools and experience to quickly produce a set of “lateral only” structural designs upon request. Our standard delivery package includes a full set of structural specification notes and custom CAD-drafted structural details to fully outline the lateral system construction requirements and streamline the structural permit review process.
Existing Building Analysis
Existing Building Analysis
For remodels, additions, and retrofitting projects, a comprehensive structural evaluation of the existing building prior to starting the final design is essential. Our engineers inspect the building to identify the overall structural framework layout, look for any previous modifications, and assess the current structural condition. Then, we evaluate the impacts of the proposed structural changes to identify any retrofitting that would be required to comply with Building Code design criteria. For smaller projects, we can prepare an analysis report documenting the assessment and the necessary structural changes to proceed with the proposed work. For larger projects, we can continue to work as part of the design team to provide the required framing plan markups and structural details that are necessary for obtaining a building permit.
Remodel/Addition Feasibility Assessments
Remodel/Addition Feasibility Assessments
ESG Design has worked collaboratively with architects, homeowners, and builders to provide project feasibility assessments on hundreds of home remodels and additions, garage conversions, and ADU projects. With our extensive experience, we can deliver key insights on the structural requirements for your proposed project. We observe the existing structure, review any preliminary drawings, and provide recommendations to ensure that the project is designed and engineered to be structurally sound and compliant with local Building Code regulations. We can prepare relative cost assessments, summary engineering reports, or full design blueprints to tailor our services toward your project-specific requirements. Construction Inspections
Construction Inspections
ESG Design offers both comprehensive and milestone-specific construction inspection services for any building project. Our construction inspections take place during the “rough-in” phase of the project, before any of the interior finish work is installed. Our role is to observe the construction and verify that all of the work is completed using the specified building materials, connected with the right hardware, and installed using Building Code-required construction methods. We provide detailed inspection reports that document our findings and identify deficiencies or errors in construction so that problems can be resolved. We also strive to work collaboratively with the builder to answer routine or difficult questions that often arise during construction.
